U.A.P.A.

Urology Association of Physician Assistants

From the President's Desk

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Dave Coleman and I'm the President of the UAPA for 2008-2009. Though the organization itself is small, the tasks set before us are much too great to be handled by one person alone. It is my privilege to be working along side several other dedicated and inspired leaders. Their names and bios can be found on the "Board Members" page. Suffice it to say that through our concerted efforts, we hope to continue moving our organization forward and improving your work and practice environment.

Last year saw many legislative changes. Some were internal to the UAPA, such as updating the policy and procedures manual. We also were recognized by the AAPA in our small organization award submission. Though we didn't win in 2008, they were quick to comment on the quality of the application and they wanted our re-submission in 2009. This is being worked on even now.

We're also attempting to make this web page easier and more pleasant to use. We hope to have a members-only section up and running very soon which will allow you to contact other UAPA members and better network with them as needed. We also are working to allow payments for membership to be made directly on-line through PayPal. Slowly but surely we're doing our best to become members of the 21st century.

We've recently become active in AUA affairs and even have one of our leaders on an AUA committee. They've even requested we offer lectures for their upcoming national conference in 2009. For those of you who have been in urology for any length of time, you can appreciate the giant step this is for the AUA and urology PAs.

The UAPA is a voice for the concerns of urology PAs nationwide and we want to remain your primary voice to the medical community. Thank you for your continued support and participation. Let's move forward together!

Sincerely,

David R. Coleman, MPAS, PA-C, DFAAPA
President, UAPA
