President - Kenneth Mitchell, MPAS, PA-C

 

 

Ken Mitchell is a certified Physician Assistant with over 15 years of clinical experience overall and with over 13 years of experience in male erectile and sexual dysfunction. Since joining Metro Urology in 2005, Ken has seen 1000’s of patients for erectile dysfunction; secondary to radical prostatectomy (Robotic and Open). Ken has authored and implemented an innovative treatment protocol, The Surgical Impotence Management Strategy (SIMS) protocol that includes comprehensive patient education and delivery of care. Ken has also participated in numerous research trials in sexual dysfunction and continues to be active in this area. Ken actively promotes Men’s health and has participated in numerous community outreach programs to educate men about sexual health. His practice interests include general men’s health, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, priapism, peyronie’s disease, and hypogonadism. In addition to a very active practice, Ken consults urologic practices on the development and implementation of post prostatectomy penile rehabilitation programs. Ken is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), Urological Association of Physician Assistants (UAPA), the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA), the Minnesota Urologic Society, and is an associate member of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America. Ken began his term as President of the Urological Association of Physician Assistants (UAPA) July 1, 2011. Ken received his under-graduate degree from Dana College (1988), and his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) at the University of Nebraska Physician Assistant Program (1995).


Past President - Todd J. Doran, MS, PA-C

 

 


Todd J. Doran, MS, PA-C is currently an associate faculty member in the Department of Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt University since January 2004. He served in the Navy for 8½ years as a medical officer after completing PA school at University of Washington in 1997. He has previously been on staff at Tripler Army Medical Center and Naval Medical Center San Diego in their urologic residency programs. He is a regular speaker at local and national conferences.
President Elect - Anthony Balchunas, MS, PA-C, FAAPA

 


Anthony Balchunas is a practicing Physician Assistant who has spent his entire career focusing on Urology and Sexual Medicine. After earning a Master Degree from Baylor College of Medicine's PA program in 1995, he went on to complete a Surgical Internship at Montefiore Medical Center in his home town New York City. Having received specialty training in Urology, Anthony was recruited to join Central Texas Urology in Waco Texas in 1997. For 14 years now, Anthony has remained focused on Urology and has worked to develop a Sexual Medicine/Andrology Clinic within his single specialty group practice. In addition to office based patient care, Anthony is active assisting in the operating room and providing care to hospital inpatients. Well know for his dynamic and passionate teaching style, Anthony is involved in lecturing and mentoring Family Practice Residents. He has also participated in community education programs specifically focused on men's health issues. Anthony serves as an editorial board member for Journal of the American Association of Physician Assistants and for the medical information web site Seekwellness.com. He has also served as a speaker and/or advisor for Allergan, American Medical Systems, Astellas, Auxilium, Coloplast, GlaxoSmithKline, Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer Inc., Lilly-ICOS, TAP Pharmaceuticals, Novartis, Timm Medical, Urologix, and Watson Pharmaceuticals. He has also recently been appointed to the American Urological Society's Advanced Practice Professional membership committee. Other Professional memberships including the American Urologic Association, The Texas Urologic Association, The International Society for Impotence Research, The Sexual Medicine Society of North America, The American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and The American Academy of Physician Assistants. Having completed all educational requirements for a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology, Anthony is now working on a dissertation which focuses on the role of Testosterone in men's sexual and global health.


Vice President - Folusho Ogunfiditimi, MPH, PA-C


As Director of the Mid Level Provider program, Folusho is responsible for the professional development and maintenance of quality standards of over 250 Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives and Nurse Anesthetist. Folusho acts as a liaison for the MLP to executive leadership of the hospital on germane to the professionalism, scope of practice and competencies of Midlevel providers within the system. Act as an advocate for the quality measures of patient care delivered by Mid-Level providers.

Folusho is also a Practicing Physician Assistant with over 10 years experience in Urology. Over the past 5 years, he has been with the Vattikuti Urology Institute, working directly for Dr. Mani Menon, the pioneer of the Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy. Folusho serves as team leader on the Vattikuti Institute Prostatectomy (VIP) team and is responsible for pre operative evaluation of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer, Assisting in the state of the art procedure of robotic prostatectomy utilizing 3Dimensional visual aids and 6 point robotic instruments and intricately involved in the post operative evaluation of patients and assessment and management of post operative complications such as erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence. Folusho was also instrumental in the development of a world class Prostate Cancer Support Group.

He graduated with B.Sc. in Physician Assistant Studies at Howard University in 1998 and finished a Masters degree in Public Health from the Medical College of Ohio in 2001. He is currently a doctoral candidate with the University of Phoenix with anticipated graduation in May 2009 with a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. Folusho is well published in peer reviewed journals and has presented at several national and state medical and public health organizations and conferences including being the first Physician Assistant to present a peer reviewed article at the American Urological Association (AUA).

With his strong interest in public health, he founded a non-profit organization that provides public health and education awareness in Nigeria. This role provides a means of fostering public health knowledge such as Prostate Cancer awareness programs to citizens of Nigeria, his nation of origin.

Folusho serves as adjunct faculty to the Physician Assistant program at Medical College of Ohio and also serves as guest lecturer and preceptor in Urology for the University of Detroit, Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. He is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Urological Association of Physician Assistants and Past President of Physician Assistants for Global Health.


Secretary - Wanda C. Hancock, MHSA, PA-C



Wanda is a Physician Assistant at Eastern Urological Associates in Greenville, NC and Professor Emeritus at MUSC of Charleston, SC. She is a graduate from MUSC in the Radiologic Technology, Master of Health Services Administration and Physician Assistant programs. She also previously served as a staff technologist, assistant chief technologist, radiation therapy program director and clinical services department chairman. After spending 32 years in Charleston, she moved back to NC to be closer to family.

 

Wanda has held leadership positions in AAPA and SCAPA and continues to serve as the AAPA Specialty Organization Representative to the Constituent Organization Workgroup. In addition, Wanda has served on the Low Country Smokefree Coalition, Charleston County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology and the Living Well Partnership: Elderly Health.

 

She has been involved with UAPA for the past 5 years and continues to support the organization as the secretary for the 2011 – 2012 year.


Treasurer - Charlene Kreiensieck, PA-C


 

Charlene Kreiensieck, PA-C is a member of the Laconia Clinic, and has been practicing as a physician assistant for the past 10 years specializing in urology. She also takes a keen interest in her practices in internal medicine and general surgery.

Charlene takes pride in her teaching position, as an adjunct professor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science, as well as being an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce University. She is a member of AAPA, UAPA, and NHSPA.

Charlene’s education started by earning a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at the University of New Hampshire, she then  went on to earn a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Notre Dame College, in Manchester, New Hampshire. Her experience and teaching continue to be a contribution the UAPA community.



DELEGATE TO THE AAPA HOD - Brad J. Hornberger, PA-C

 

Brad Hornberger is a Physician Assistant in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He has been practicing as a Urology PA since graduating from Missouri State University's PA program in 2002. His clinical interests include general urology with a special interest in male sexual dysfunction. In addition, he serves as a co-investigator in several clinical trials. He frequently lectures for the UT Southwestern PA program and has presented on a wide variety of topics for locally and nationally. He is also an active member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants where he serves on the Board of Directors and as the Chair of the CME committee. He also serves as the Delegate to represent the Urological Association of Physician Assistants to the American Academy of Physician Assistants House of Delegates.
